Mary Elizabeth Timmons Scott was 35 and living in Selma, Alabama, when she was killed during a custody dispute that culminated on November 28, 2017. Her body was later discovered locked in the trunk of a car. Her former husband, 63-year-old psychologist Greg Scott, was found dead in front of a funeral home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Alabama investigators concluded Greg Scott murdered Mary and then died by suicide, leaving their two young daughters without parents. The community was left reeling by the violence and the children’s sudden loss.
