Annie Royale Suazo, also listed as Anne Suazo or Anne Suazo-Cheney, was 50 when she vanished from North Las Vegas on April 3, 2001. Described as white, red or auburn hair, blue eyes, pierced ears and about 5 feet to 5 feet 1 inch tall at roughly 110 pounds, she had separated from her husband and was living with her adult daughter, Bethany Rodriguez. Annie worked as a clerk at See’s Candies in the Meadows Mall and was said to be in regular contact with family, so her sudden silence alarmed loved ones.

On the morning of April 3 Bethany reportedly discovered Michael Messick inside the residence; Annie left with Messick in her minivan at about 6:00 a.m. and never returned. Family members reported her missing on April 6. Her minivan was later found abandoned on Charleston Boulevard near Antelope Way; investigators saw signs the vehicle had been cleaned, noted stains inside, and Annie’s son reported several items missing from the van. Messick told police he had dropped Annie off near Boulder Highway.

Investigators later tied Annie’s disappearance to the death of Messick’s mother, Hisayo Miller. Prosecutors said DNA and blood evidence linked Messick to both women. A jury convicted Messick of first-degree murder in Miller’s death and second-degree murder in Annie Suazo’s death, but Annie’s remains have not been recovered. Does anyone have information about Annie’s last known movements or remembers seeing her minivan after April 3, 2001?
