Edwin Earl Cosby, 78, was found dead in his office at Cosby’s Auto Sales in Rutledge, Alabama, on the evening of Monday, June 13, 2016. His wife became concerned when he did not return home from work; later that evening his son discovered his body at the dealership. The Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office investigated and determined the death to be a homicide. An autopsy showed Cosby died of a single gunshot wound.
Known in town as Mr. Earl, Cosby was a familiar, routine-oriented businessman and was last seen alive that afternoon at a local store. No arrests or publicly identified suspects have been reported, and a significant reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Very little else has been released about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
If anyone knew Mr. Earl, saw him the afternoon of June 13, 2016, or has information that could help the investigation, please come forward.
