On August 7, 2015, 24-year-old Jacob Christopher Parker died after a firearm accidentally discharged at a residence in Theodore, Alabama. Parker, described as a Caucasian male who worked as a deckhand, was with a 23-year-old friend, Carlos Heard, when the weapon went off. Emergency services responded but Parker’s injuries were fatal.
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office concluded the shooting was unintentional and the result of dangerous, negligent handling of the gun. Following the investigation, Carlos Heard was taken into custody and charged with manslaughter; he was booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail with bond set at $100,000.
