In McCalla, Alabama, Doris Jean Hutcheson, 49, was found dead in her home on June 28, 2015, alongside her two children, 14-year-old Kimberly and 12-year-old Peyton. All three had been fatally shot; authorities described the scene as a violent crime. Investigators determined the killings likely occurred the evening of Friday, June 26, after a relative requested a welfare check over the weekend.

Police identified Doris’s husband, 47-year-old Stephen Sean Hutcheson, as the primary suspect. According to the investigation, a text was sent from Doris’s phone to her sister saying she was going to the beach for a few days. Stephen was believed to have spent the following weekend at a motel with his girlfriend, where they reportedly used cocaine; the girlfriend cooperated and was not treated as a suspect. A warrant was issued for Stephen on four counts of capital murder, including an extra count because Peyton was under 14, and officers believed Peyton may have been awake and witnessed the shootings.

Stephen’s vehicle was later found in woods near Adger with a man inside who was believed to be him and who died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound; officials said the body appeared to have been there several days. Does anyone from McCalla or the surrounding area have information about the family or the days before June 26, 2015?
