Tamika Washington was 23 when she was shot and killed on June 20, 2015, outside her home in the Demetrius Newton public-housing community in Fairfield, Alabama. Reports describe her as being on the front porch when the shooting occurred in what by daylight was a neighborhood where families lived and children played. Family members told local media they believed she was targeted because she may have witnessed an earlier shooting that day which wounded two people, including an 8-year-old girl.

Fairfield police issued an arrest warrant for Antwaun Rodgers, believed to be in the Birmingham area, and the U.S. Marshals Service later reported his arrest in west Birmingham on a murder charge. Rodgers was held in the Jefferson County Jail on bond as the matter moved into the courts. A published death notice says Washington’s funeral was held at Thompson Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church and lists her husband, Elliot Washington, and four children among survivors.

Did anyone in Fairfield or the Demetrius Newton community hear or see anything that night that could still help investigators or family?
