On the evening of June 19, 2015, police responded to a home on Greenview Drive in Tuscaloosa after a family member found two people dead inside. Rosa Mae Busby, 60, was one of the victims. Investigators determined both victims had suffered gunshot wounds and reported the pair were not related but were involved in a relationship and living together at the residence.

Authorities came to believe the shooting was a murder-suicide: that Roger Creer shot Busby and then turned the gun on himself. With the suspected shooter deceased at the scene, there was no arrest. Busby’s death was later recorded as occurring at her residence on June 19, 2015; the case was described at the time as still under investigation.
