Denard Nino Williams, a 25-year-old Black man, was shot on the evening of October 5, 2014, on the 1100 block of Jackson Lake Road in Millbrook, Alabama. Police were called around 6:20 p.m.; officers found Williams gravely wounded in a yard with multiple chest wounds. He was flown by medical helicopter to Baptist South but died of his injuries.
Witnesses reported a shooter running away on foot from the scene. While officers were still gathering statements, a man from Elmore named Jadrian Long turned himself in to Montgomery police and was charged with murder in connection with the shooting. The case was tried in Elmore County, and by late January 2016 Long was convicted of Williams’s murder.
The account focuses on the encounter on Jackson Lake Road, the shots fired, and the rapid identification and charging of a suspect; many questions about motive and the events leading up to the shooting remain outside the published record. If anyone knew Denard Williams or has information about that night, please share what can help fill in the picture.
