Marcellus Lee Brown, 41, was shot in the chest inside the Easy Money establishment on McFarland Boulevard East in Tuscaloosa on August 23, 2014, at about 6 p.m. He was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center, where his injuries proved fatal. Authorities have characterized the killing as the result of a personal dispute rather than a random act or a robbery.

Tuscaloosa Police and the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit identified and arrested 38-year-old Eric Omar Petty, who was charged with Brown’s murder.
