Jamie Rochelle Grisim left Fort Vancouver High School on December 7, 1971, expecting to walk about two miles to her foster home and never arrived. She was sixteen, described as 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 5 inches and about 125 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair that had been bleached and growing back to its natural color. She had hearing loss in one ear and a missing tooth. Last seen wearing a red and white horizontally striped blouse, blue hip-hugger jeans, and white sneakers marked with peace and love; she may also have worn a long brown corduroy coat and dangling earrings.

Initially treated as a runaway, the missing person report was not filed until January 1972. In May 1972 Jamie’s purse, identification, and other personal belongings were found in a wooded area of Dole Valley in northern Clark County, near a trail where the remains of two other young women were later discovered. Investigators later linked the case to suspected serial killer Warren Leslie Forrest, a former student at the same high school; Forrest was convicted in 1978 for another murder but has never been charged in Jamie’s disappearance. A death certificate for Jamie was issued in March 2009, and her case remains the oldest cold case in Clark County.

Does anyone who lived in the Vancouver area in 1971 remember seeing Jamie that day or recall anyone suspicious near the Dole Valley trails?
