On June 2, 2013, Selma, Alabama resident Bill Jackson, 59, was fatally shot in a sequence of violence later ruled a murder-suicide. The attack began around 12:10 p.m. on Springdale Street when off-duty Selma police officer Dwight Moorer confronted his 28-year-old ex-girlfriend, Keoshia L. Hill, and shot her in the driveway next to a white car. Moorer then went to the 300 block of 10th Street and fatally shot Jackson, who was Hill’s stepfather. Moorer returned to the Springdale Street scene and died by suicide inside the white car.
The Alabama Bureau of Investigation handled the case, which local authorities determined to be a murder-suicide; motive was reported to be related to the recent end of Moorer and Hill’s relationship. The Selma Police Department publicly expressed shock and grief that one of its officers was responsible for the killings.
Did anyone in Selma know Jackson or Hill and have information about what led up to that day?
