On November 22, 2014, Candace LaBelle, 29, was fatally shot in Sisseton, South Dakota, during a domestic-violence incident that left four people dead and one critically injured. A patrol officer found a vehicle with its doors open in a driveway and discovered four unresponsive individuals and one seriously wounded woman.
Investigators say 22-year-old Colter Arbach, who had been in a relationship with survivor Karissa DogEagle, allegedly assaulted DogEagle earlier that day. When someone threatened to call police, Arbach reportedly retrieved a .223-caliber rifle and a 12-gauge shotgun and began shooting. Candace LaBelle, Vernon Renville Jr., and Angela Adams were killed; DogEagle suffered multiple gunshot wounds but survived. Arbach then died by a self-inflicted gunshot at the scene. The Attorney General’s office identified domestic violence as the primary factor in this murder-suicide.
If anyone knew Candace, her movements that day, or has information about the people in that home, please come forward and share what is known.
