On the morning of March 10, 2019, 37-year-old Napoleon Andrade was fatally shot just after 9:30 a.m. outside a Quincy Avenue halfway house in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. He had been living there while nearing the end of a federal prison term, with release scheduled later that year. The daylight killing in the Woodlawn neighborhood was described as brazen and left the community shaken.
Andrade had prior arrests for drug, firearms and assault offenses and was serving time for charges that included drug trafficking and a 2010 Connecticut home invasion. The victim of that 2010 home invasion was identified as an associate of the Gambino crime family, and Andrade was reported to have had past ties to the Patriarca crime family, including work as a driver and bodyguard for a former boss. Investigators recovered surveillance footage from the area, including from a nearby church, showing a car speeding away after the shooting, and explored a possible motive of retaliation linked to the earlier home invasion.
Despite those leads and precautionary moves by federal authorities for another resident of the halfway house, no arrest has been reported and the case remains unsolved. Does anyone with knowledge of Andrade, the halfway house, or that neighborhood offer information that could help move this case forward?
