John Cloud, an 81-year-old resident of Kingston, Massachusetts, was fatally shot on June 13, 2016, during a meeting at Pocasset Hill Cemetery in Tiverton, Rhode Island. The meeting had been arranged to discuss a large loan Edward Acquisto, 80, of Tiverton, had taken from Cloud’s church in 2011 and largely failed to repay. Witnesses visiting the cemetery heard gunshots shortly before 7 p.m., and Cloud was killed among the gravestones.
After the shooting Acquisto fled in his vehicle and led police on a pursuit that crossed into Fall River, Massachusetts, before returning to a Tiverton residential dead-end street. Cornered, Acquisto opened fire on officers; two Fall River officers and one Tiverton officer returned fire and fatally wounded him. Acquisto had prior convictions including a no-contest plea to manslaughter in 1982 and a 1981 sexual assault conviction, and was on parole at the time.
Does anyone remember seeing either man near Pocasset Hill Cemetery that evening or have information about the loan dispute?
