Maurice Nelson was killed inside his Smithfield Avenue apartment in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on the night of August 13, 2005. Masked intruders forced their way into the residence, ordered a witness to the floor and covered that person’s head. The assailants dragged Nelson into another room, where he was beaten and shot multiple times.

The Pawtucket Police Department investigated and appealed to the public, but the case went cold. No arrests have been announced and the individuals responsible have not been identified. The murder remains an open homicide and a tragic loss for Nelson’s family and the neighborhood.
