Rodney Yancey, a 43-year-old Caucasian man, was shot and killed in Manchester on the evening of April 4, 2023. Police were called for reports of gunfire on Union Street just after 7:30 p.m. and found Yancey suffering from gunshot wounds in front of a multi-unit home on Bell Street. First responders were unable to save him; the New Hampshire Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death gunshot wounds to the chest and classified the death a homicide.
According to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, the confrontation began when Yancey, who was not known to the apartment’s residents, entered an unlocked apartment at 213 Bell Street and was asked to leave. The dispute moved outside, where investigators say 23-year-old Roy Nagle pushed Yancey down the porch steps. Yancey reportedly got up, brandished a knife, and advanced toward Nagle. Nagle drew a pistol, repeatedly warned Yancey to stop, and fired three shots when Yancey continued to charge. The New Hampshire Department of Justice later found Nagle’s use of deadly force to be legally justified and no charges were filed.
Are there details about Yancey’s movements that evening or witnesses who saw the incident that have not been shared publicly?
