Tyler Zachary Gilbert was 12 when he was killed on August 4, 2021. He had been visiting his father, 47-year-old David Lent, at a Plain Road residence in Hinsdale, New Hampshire; family members and his grandparents were present in the home that day. Responding officers arrived about 12:53 p.m. and found Tyler and his father deceased from gunshot wounds, with a pistol located next to Lent’s body. A witness at the scene said Lent shot his son and then himself.
An autopsy by Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Mitchell Weinberg ruled Tyler’s death a homicide caused by gunshot wounds; Lent’s death was ruled a suicide from a single gunshot wound. Investigators concluded Lent was the sole perpetrator. If anyone has information about Tyler, his visit to Hinsdale that day, or the hours leading up to August 4, please come forward to help his family.
