On July 19, 2019, 42-year-old Jason C Barry was fatally shot near Union Street in Manchester, New Hampshire. An autopsy determined the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head, and authorities classified the death as a homicide.
Investigators say Barry had entered a garage on Union Street and was seen on the homeowner’s surveillance system. The homeowner returned, found Barry attempting to exit the garage, and shot him, later claiming self-defense. In December 2019 the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office announced it would not pursue charges against the homeowner, stating prosecutors could not disprove the self-defense claim beyond a reasonable doubt.
Barry was remembered as a caring and selfless individual and is survived by a daughter and three sisters. If anyone witnessed the incident or has information about what happened that night, please come forward.
