Robert W Dishman, 63, was shot late the morning of November 28, 2016, at a home on 4 Am’s Way in Effingham, New Hampshire. He was transported to Dartmouth–Hitchcock Medical Center and died there the same day; an autopsy by Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Jennie Duval found a single gunshot wound to the chest and ruled the manner of death a homicide.
The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, State Police, and Effingham Police opened a joint investigation; then–Attorney General Joseph A. Foster, State Police Colonel Christopher Wagner, and Effingham Police Chief Timothy Butts announced detectives were processing the scene and interviewing witnesses about what happened around 11 a.m. Neighbors recalled a man known locally as Bob living at the address where police activity concentrated.
