On the night of October 15, 2021, 41-year-old Jennifer Diane Leigh was fatally shot in her Pocatello, Idaho, home during an incident investigators later framed as domestic violence. A second person, 21-year-old Timothy D. Hunt, also died from gunshot wounds at the scene. Officers found spent 9mm casings at the house.
Police identified Jennifer’s estranged husband, Jesse Patrick Leigh, as the primary suspect; he was located at his parents’ home and arrested in the early hours of October 16, 2021. A 9mm semiautomatic handgun was reportedly in his possession when taken into custody. Jennifer and Jesse’s young son was in the home and witnessed the shooting, and an audio recording recovered from the residence captured a brief argument followed by gunfire.
What details about the events that evening or the relationships involved could help explain how the situation escalated to lethal violence?
