Blas Salvador Alonzo Duke, 34, was fatally shot at his apartment complex in Sandpoint, Idaho, on the evening of August 6, 2018. Known to family and friends as Duke, he answered a knock at his Meandering Moose Apartments residence on Marion Avenue and was struck once in the chest by a single bullet; the preliminary autopsy listed the gunshot wound as the cause of death.

Sandpoint Police recovered a firearm from the area that they believed was the weapon used and sent it to the state crime lab, and detectives interviewed witnesses and others who might have information. The suspect was described only as an unidentified male who fled on foot after firing the shot. No arrests have been announced and the motive remains unclear; the investigation was continuing as authorities sought new leads.
