Two 18-year-old friends, Israel Lewis Warren and Ryan Stenson, died from a single gunshot wound during an evening gathering in uptown Butte on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. Police said the men were seated next to each other when a large-caliber handgun discharged; the bullet struck one of the men and then fatally wounded the other. Investigators opened a probe to determine the sequence of events and who fired the weapon, but no suspect was publicly identified in the initial reports.

Obituaries and community statements described the deaths as a tragic accident rather than an intentional attack. Israel Warren was remembered as a kindhearted gentle giant who enjoyed football, drawing, and hoped to become a chef.

If anyone was at the residence that evening or has information about what happened, please share what is known with the authorities handling the case.
