On July 5, 2017, 52-year-old Lori Jeanne Hayden was shot and killed inside her home at 316 Russell Road in Madison, Maine. The attack began as an extreme incident of domestic violence carried out by her partner, 51-year-old Carroll Tuttle Jr., who also fatally shot their 25-year-old son, Dustin Tuttle, inside the residence.
After those killings, Tuttle went to a nearby house at 299 Russell Road and shot and killed 57-year-old Michael Spaulding. A fourth person, 57-year-old Harvey Austin of Skowhegan, was shot and wounded outside the Tuttle home and survived. Some reports suggested Tuttle suspected an affair and that Spaulding was helping Lori leave, but a definitive motive was not established.
Deputies from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office confronted Carroll Tuttle Jr. near the scene; he was shot and killed by officers. Autopsies confirmed gunshot wounds as the cause of death, and Lori Hayden’s death was classified as a domestic violence homicide.
Does anyone have information about Lori’s life in Madison or the days leading up to July 5, 2017?
