On the evening of November 4, 2015, 28-year-old Amy Derosby was among three people shot and killed in a two-apartment house on Belgrade Road in Oakland, Maine. Amy lived in the upstairs unit with her 42-year-old boyfriend, Herman DeRico; Amanda Bragg, 30, and her boyfriend Michael Muzerolle, 29, lived on the first floor with their three-year-old daughter. Wounded, Amy made a 911 call that, together with neighbors reporting gunshots, brought police to the scene around 8 p.m.
Officers found Amy, Amanda and Michael dead inside the first-floor apartment; Amanda and Michael’s young daughter was found unharmed. DeRico was discovered outside the home, dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound from a 9mm handgun. Investigators reported DeRico had a history of mental health issues and that both prescribed and illegal drugs were in his system. No definitive motive has been reported.
