Malik Xavier Miller, a 30-year-old Black man from Wilmington, was killed in the early morning hours of Friday, October 2, 2020, after gunfire erupted outside the Casablanca Restaurant at 4010 North DuPont Highway in New Castle, Delaware. Troopers were called about 1:02 a.m. and found one wounded man, later identified as Tymir Mason of Wilmington, in the parking lot; Miller had been taken from the scene by private vehicle to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead from an upper body gunshot wound.

Delaware State Police said both victims were struck in what their unsolved homicide file described as a shootout at the North DuPont Highway location. The scene was processed and a northbound lane of North DuPont Highway was temporarily closed while investigators worked. No suspect was publicly identified and no arrest, charge, trial, or conviction has been reported; the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit asked anyone with information to contact them or Delaware Crime Stoppers.

If anyone was in the area that night or has information about the shooting, please share what you know with investigators.
