Tymir J. Mason, 28, was shot and killed in the early morning hours of October 2, 2020, in New Castle. The shooting occurred outside the Casablanca Restaurant on North DuPont Highway after a late-night gathering in the restaurant parking lot. Delaware State Police were called shortly after 1:00 a.m. for reports of gunfire; troopers found Mason with a gunshot wound to his upper body and he died at the scene.
A second man, 30-year-old Malik X. Miller of Wilmington, was also shot in the upper body that night. He was taken from the scene in a private vehicle to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Police closed part of North DuPont Highway while the parking lot was processed and investigators worked to piece together what happened.
Authorities identified both victims publicly in the days after the shooting but did not release a motive, and early reports said investigators had not determined what led to the gunfire. The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit asked the public for help and requested that anyone with information contact Detective D. Grassi or Delaware Crime Stoppers. Does anyone have information about that night in the Casablanca parking lot that could help the investigation?
