Robert J. White, a 37-year-old Black man from Harrington, Delaware, was shot and killed on December 11, 2019, on the unit block of Diamond Court. The shooting occurred about 6:30 p.m. after White had left his residence on foot; one local account says he left his girlfriend’s house to buy cigarettes when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired at him. He sustained a single gunshot wound and was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities initially withheld his name pending family notification and publicly identified him two days later. The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit took over the investigation at the Harrington Police Department’s request. Public information described the shooter as an unknown subject, with no suspect named and no arrest or charges announced at that time.
If anyone saw the shooting, the vehicle involved, or has other information about what happened near Diamond Court that evening, please contact the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit or Delaware Crime Stoppers.
