Isaac Maneice Hatton, a 19-year-old Black man from Laurel, Delaware, was killed on the evening of September 25, 2018; his body was found near the shoreline of Portsville Pond the next morning. Surveillance footage captured part of an earlier verbal confrontation at the Little Creek Deli in Laurel involving Hatton, Traevon Dixon and Jerry Reed. Witnesses and video evidence show the three left Laurel in a group of vehicles and traveled to Portsville Pond, where Hatton was shot repeatedly and left in the weeds along the water’s edge. Court records say the motive was not definitively established and may have involved drugs, money or another unresolved dispute.
Delaware State Police arrested Dixon on September 27 and later charged him with first-degree murder and related firearms counts; warrants were issued for Reed, who later surrendered and faced first-degree murder, conspiracy and weapons charges. A Sussex County grand jury indicted both in November 2018 and the cases were separated for individual trials. Does anyone have information about Hatton’s movements that night or about witnesses who saw the vehicles travel toward Portsville Pond?
