Eric Pearson, a 48-year-old Black man from the Philadelphia area, was fatally shot on the evening of February 8, 2016, outside the TGI Friday’s at 128 North DuPont Highway in New Castle, Delaware. First reports of gunfire came in around 6:58 p.m.; officers from New Castle City Police, New Castle County Police and Delaware State Police found Pearson unconscious in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds, including to his torso. New Castle County paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
The shooting occurred while numerous people were in and around the restaurant. Police interviewed roughly 40 people who had been at the scene, but investigators did not immediately identify who fired the shots or disclose a motive. Authorities asked witnesses and anyone with information to contact New Castle City Police or Delaware Crime Stoppers. Contemporaneous reports stated no arrests had been made and no suspect description, motive, or known confrontation prior to the shooting was released.
Did anyone who was at the TGI Friday’s that evening or who remembers seeing something that night come forward with information?
