On the night of January 2, 2023, 64-year-old Flagstaff resident Bryan Teague was shot and killed in the Hano Trail neighborhood of Kachina Village. Deputies from the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office responded shortly after 11 p.m. and found Teague deceased at the scene.

A 23-year-old neighbor, Collin Toerner-Todd, was taken into custody that night after a 911 caller said they had been assaulted and acted in self-defense, resulting in a death. Toerner-Todd was booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility and later charged with second-degree homicide, aggravated assault, and disorderly conduct with a weapon. The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and the Medical Examiner’s Office continued investigating the circumstances.
