A domestic dispute at a family home in Avondale, Arizona, ended with the fatal shooting of 50-year-old Ricardo Lopez Sr. on Saturday, November 20, 2021. The confrontation began as a verbal argument between Lopez Sr. and Terron Brown, who was dating Lopez Sr.’s daughter. During the incident Brown produced a handgun and fired multiple shots. Lopez Sr. was struck and later died at a hospital; his daughter, identified as Rosa Almanza, was also shot but survived with non-life-threatening injuries.

Avondale police responded to multiple 911 calls just after 8:30 p.m. and found both victims with gunshot wounds. Investigators located Brown in the neighborhood hours later; he was in possession of the infant child and the handgun believed to be the weapon used and was booked on charges including murder and aggravated assault.
