John Drayton Lucas, 24, disappeared from his Swansea, South Carolina, home area on February 8, 2025. A residential property camera captured him walking away from his Whetstone Road residence; family members believe he may have been heading toward Orangeburg County. He is described as about 6 feet 1 inch, 150 pounds, with brown shoulder-length wavy hair, brown eyes and a partial amputation of the little finger on his left hand. He was last seen wearing an orange beanie, a camouflage jacket, blue jeans and lace-up rubber boots.
John had been discharged from a two-week hospital stay just days before he went missing and had been given instructions for cardiac follow-up care, which has increased concern for his well-being. The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department conducted multiple land and air searches soon after he vanished and in March 2026 renewed a public appeal for actionable, verifiable tips, stressing the investigation is not cold. Community members organized large ground and water searches in June 2025 across wooded and rural areas between Lexington and Orangeburg counties.
No concrete leads or confirmed sightings have been reported and the investigation remains open. Did anyone in the Swansea or Orangeburg County area see John around February 8, 2025, or have information about his movements that could help locate him?
