Carolyn Mae Allen was 51 when she was last heard from in Charlotte, North Carolina. Family members give January 2016 as the last time anyone saw her; some official records list May 29, 2017, as a last contact date. She was last known to be in the 5000 block of Reagan Drive. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department received an official missing persons report in July 2017 after concern grew over the prolonged silence.

Family members say Allen occasionally left for stretches of time, but she normally stayed in touch with at least one relative. Her daughters, Shawnita Scott and Asia Scott Garvin, say Allen’s boyfriend at the time told them she packed bags and went to Virginia to collect money related to her late husband, but he could give no details about travel companions or destinations. The daughters checked the sister Allen usually called during trips and learned no one had heard from her.

Her case remains active but cold, with no new developments or identified suspects. Her family, who now say they do not believe she is alive, has worked with the Black and Missing Foundation and continues to appeal for information. If anyone knew Carolyn’s movements in early 2016 or has information about a trip to Virginia, please come forward.
