On July 20, 2018, a dispute over an air conditioning repair in Surprise, Arizona, ended with the death of 41-year-old homeowner Frank Pineda. Pineda had called for service at his residence near Citrus Road and Grand Avenue; the serviceman, 26-year-old Robert Moore of Arrowhead Aire, arrived to perform the work. An altercation between Pineda and Moore escalated and Moore shot Pineda. Emergency services transported Pineda to a local hospital around 3:30 p.m., where he was later pronounced dead.
Moore surrendered to authorities and was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He told investigators he acted in self-defense, saying Pineda attacked and repeatedly punched him. Police reported they found no visible bruising on Moore to corroborate that claim. The case went to trial, and in November 2019 a jury returned a not guilty verdict for Robert Moore.
Did anyone in the Surprise area witness the service call or the confrontation near Citrus Road and Grand Avenue?
