Hey everyone,
I stumbled across Gary Victor Anderson's case while going through old missing persons files, and something caught my attention about the landscape of Red Lake, Ontario. Back in 1992, Red Lake wasn't exactly a bustling city, but it had its unique northern charm. Its remote location and the dense surrounding forests always made me wonder if someone could easily get lost there, especially if they weren’t familiar with the local terrain.
In the early '90s, search-and-rescue operations were already part of policing services, but given the vast wilderness, I can't help but think about how challenging it would've been to cover large areas thoroughly. Did anyone hear back then if there were efforts for a detailed ground search when Gary first went missing? Or maybe if there were any challenges they faced because of the dense and rugged terrain? It seems like any tiny clue in such an environment could easily be overlooked.
I'm curious if places that weren’t easily reached by foot or vehicle were explored or if they solely focused on more accessible regions. Thirty years is a long time for potential new developments to arise. If there's any chance that someone local remembered a rumor or a hint they didn’t think was important at the time, it could be vital now.
Thanks for any help or thoughts!
