Bryan Terrance-Jalon Burns was 25 when he was fatally shot in the early hours of November 11, 2017, along Interstate 10 south of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, near Elliott Road. Family and friends remembered him for an optimistic outlook and a love of music and sports.
Investigators later focused on DaVonte’ Neal, a former University of Arizona football player who had worked as an assistant coach at Idaho State University and previously at Higley High School in Gilbert. Court records indicated jealousy over a relationship with the mother of Neal’s daughter as the apparent motive. In September 2024 Neal pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder and was facing sentencing the following month under a plea agreement that exposed him to 20 to 25 years in prison.
Does anyone have information about Bryan’s last known movements that could help clarify what happened that night?
