I've been following the Douglas Babineau case for quite some time, and I just can't get the role of Michael Louis Joseph Perron out of my mind. The fact that Perron was charged, albeit with only a two-month conditional sentence for indignity to a human body, really makes me question what deeper involvement he may have had. If the witness saw Douglas's boot slip out of the tarp, there had to have been more than just Perron's warning to stay silent.
Why didn't Perron face more serious charges, given his alleged actions and the witness statement? And what about his non-disclosure of the body's identity? It almost feels like there's a bigger story beneath the surface. Was there an agreement in place to protect someone higher up, or did Perron genuinely not know more than what was presented? It's frustrating thinking about how pivotal he could be to unraveling the mystery but how little his actions have contributed to solving it. Anyone else have thoughts on this angle? Would love to hear different perspectives!
