I’ve been thinking a lot about Shelley-Anne Bacsu’s case recently, especially given its prominence in unsolved Canadian mysteries. Something that's always nagged at me is the discovery location of Shelley-Anne’s personal belongings near the Athabasca River. It makes me wonder if whoever took her had any familiarity with that area. The river seems pretty remote for someone unfamiliar to just end up there by chance. If you consider the time she was last seen on Highway 16 walking west, the appearance of her belongings doesn’t seem to align with a random abduction. Could it be that the perpetrator was a local or someone who knew the area well enough to feel confident they wouldn’t be seen discarding items there? Did any other witnesses or unusual activities get reported around that specific location at the time or prior? There’s something methodical about the way her items were found, and I feel like this aspect hasn't been revisited enough. Maybe there’s someone out there with information about who used to frequent the river area back in the early ‘80s. Any thoughts or theories on this?
