Diane Mae Bignell, an Indigenous woman, was last seen on May 17, 2018, in Thompson, Manitoba — the morning of what would have been her 60th birthday. She was reported missing two days later after failing to make her normal contact with the brother she lived with. Diane enjoyed word puzzles, soap operas, and making bannock; she walked with a limp due to a bad hip and painful knees and was diabetic, requiring medication.

She was last seen at about 8:30 a.m. on Juniper Street wearing a dark grey or black coat, dark royal blue pants with white stripes, grey running shoes, and glasses. In late June 2018 her dark grey jacket was found near the Burntwood River, which prompted searches of the river by family, community volunteers, the RCMP, Manitoba Hydro and an underwater recovery team; those efforts did not produce further evidence. Unconfirmed rumors mention a possible sighting with a man from Selkirk.

If anyone in Thompson or the surrounding area remembers seeing Diane on May 17, 2018, or has information about the jacket found by the Burntwood River, please come forward.
