Ervin Bollom, 37, vanished from Obonga Lake on October 9, 1974 after setting out by boat to get medical help for a friend. His boat was recovered on the lake with the throttle in the open position but Bollom was not aboard. He was described as a Caucasian man, 5 feet 4 inches, slim, about 134 pounds, with brown hair, and was last seen wearing a red plaid jacket.
The boat’s condition—engine engaged and empty—points to a sudden, unexplained event on the water. Despite searches and an investigation handled by the Armstrong OPP detachment, no trace of Bollom has ever been found and there have been no publicly reported leads that explain his disappearance.
Anyone who was on or near Obonga Lake in October 1974, or who may have information about that day, is asked to come forward.
