Clifford Boyle, 47, was a crewman aboard the S.S. Gleneagle who disappeared on July 24, 1972, while the vessel crossed Georgian Bay near Flowerpot Island, Ontario. He was seen working on the left side of the ship’s deck toward the rear; that sighting is the last confirmed account of him. When he could not be located aboard the ship, records indicate he was presumed to have gone into the water but no body was ever recovered.

Boyle was about 5 feet 8 inches tall, roughly 214 pounds, with a heavy build, short brown-and-grey hair, blue eyes, and the end of his right index finger missing. He was last reported wearing a blue shirt patterned with white dots and dark or black trousers. Investigators and those who knew him have long regarded an accidental fall and drowning as the most likely explanation, but without recovered remains there is no definitive evidence about how he entered the water or what happened afterward.

The disappearance is recorded with the Ontario Provincial Police and remains unresolved. Did anyone who worked aboard the Gleneagle or traveled near Flowerpot Island in July 1972 remember seeing Boyle that day or notice anything unusual on deck?
