Charlene Catholique was 15 when she disappeared from the Rae area of the Northwest Territories in the summer of 1990. A member of the Łútselk’e Dene First Nation, she traveled to Yellowknife for the Dene National Assembly in Dettah, then went with other teenagers to what was then Fort Rae. On July 22, 1990, she was last seen on Highway 3 near the Rae Access Road attempting to hitchhike back to Yellowknife. An acquaintance reportedly told her to wait while they fetched a vehicle, but returned to find Charlene gone.

She was wearing a blue nylon jacket with white sleeves, a neon pink cotton sweatshirt, acid-washed blue jeans and white running shoes. The family felt the investigation lacked urgency; her father, Joe Catholique, spent years searching and placing posters before he stopped communicating with the RCMP in 2008 and later died without learning what happened to his daughter. The case is still open with the Northwest Territories RCMP Historical Case Unit and is treated as a suspected homicide; the Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories declared her legally dead on June 9, 2017. Investigators renewed public appeals on the 30th anniversary in July 2020 and carried out an operation near Behchokǫ̀ in September 2020.

Does anyone who was in Dettah, Fort Rae or along Highway 3 around July 22, 1990 remember seeing Charlene or the car the acquaintance went to fetch?
