Cyril Cheong was 24 when he disappeared on May 17, 1985, during a fishing trip on White Lake, Ontario. According to missing-person records, worsening weather and strong winds caused the boat he was in to capsize. Friends attempted to help, and at least one witness reported seeing Cyril about two to three feet below the surface before he slipped from view and could not be reached.

Records describe Cyril as an Asian male, about 5 feet 7 inches and 93 pounds, with short black hair, brown eyes and no facial hair. He was wearing brown rubber boots, a green wool bush jacket or coat and green pants described as army-style or cotton. Some compilations note pockmarked skin. The Marathon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is identified with the case; the file also appears in provincial and RCMP missing-person databases.

Did anyone on White Lake in May 1985 see or hear anything that could shed light on Cyril’s final moments?
