I’ve seen quite a few discussions about the disappearance of James Arthur Cochrane and his friends back in '67, but something always puzzles me about the conditions they faced out there. I’ve read that the north of Manitoba's weather can switch on you in an instant, especially around the Hudson Bay area where they were. June is supposed to be ideal for fishing trips, but can anyone share more insight into how common or unexpected it would be for severe weather, like the freezing rain they encountered, to occur out of nowhere during that time of year? Is it unusual, or should they have anticipated such conditions? It seems like one of those critical details that might have made the difference in their tragic journey. Any meteorologists or locals with knowledge about the historical weather patterns back then would be awesome!
