Robert William Commu was 29 when he was last seen in South Dumfries Township, Ontario, on March 31, 1996. He worked as a welder at S and L Fabricating in Cambridge and lived in a twin geodesic dome on West River Road in Paris. A neighbor saw him that Sunday evening working on his truck; that was the last confirmed sighting.
Robert is about six feet tall, 180 pounds, with long brown hair, blue eyes and a tattoo of a lion with wings on his upper right arm. His truck and wallet were left behind, the house door was found open with music on a repeating loop, and his dog had a cut on its head. Tire tracks in the driveway and reported sightings of him with two unidentified men in a pickup truck in the days before his disappearance are key unresolved details. Searches of the nearby Grand River turned up nothing.
The family believes Robert would not have taken his own life and suspects foul play. DNA samples from relatives have been submitted and the case remains open. If anyone knew Robert, saw him around March 31, 1996, or has information about the two men or the pickup truck, please come forward.
