It's been almost 23 years since Dawn Crey went missing from the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. Every time I think about her story, I can't help but wonder about the Balmoral Hotel. Dawn had confided in her doctor about feeling unsafe there, and it got me thinking about how those gut feelings we get shouldn't be overlooked. The hotel had a reputation for being unsafe and not well-maintained, yet many vulnerable people like Dawn had no other choice but to live there. How many others felt the same unease and were ignored or felt they had no other options? It's worrying how certain places become notorious yet still remain operational without intervention. Might be worth discussing whether there are more former residents who have similar stories. Has anyone come across any details about the hotel management or other stories from residents? There's always more than meets the eye with these kinds of locations.
