Elizabeth Mae Dorion, 44, of Opaskwayak Cree Nation, was last seen September 20, 1999, at a fish camp called Mile 94 between The Pas and Pukatawagan. Known as Liz or Lizard, she supported herself by selling intricate beadwork and was a mother of three. She was described as 5 feet 4 inches, about 150 pounds, with black shoulder-length hair, brown eyes and scars on her left cheek, forearms and wrists. She was last seen wearing a button-up sweater, a t-shirt and jogging pants.

Family say Elizabeth’s niece last saw her September 15, 1999, when Elizabeth planned to visit a friend and return by September 19 to vote in a reserve election. Concerns raised to RCMP in The Pas and Pukatawagan were not immediately acted on, and Pukatawagan RCMP did not file an official missing person report until November 13, 1999. Two ground searches were carried out with no results; the family says the searches were insufficient.

In 2015 a friend reportedly came forward after more than 15 years, saying she had been threatened into silence and had heard that Elizabeth was beaten, bound with rocks and pushed into nearby rapids. The family continues to seek answers and is uncertain about the case status.

If anyone knew Elizabeth, saw her at Mile 94 in September 1999, or has information about what happened, please share what is known.
