Laura Flanagan was 48 when she left her cottage at Hall’s Lake in Algonquin Highlands, Ontario, for a solo canoe trip on the afternoon of Friday, July 1, 2005. Neighbours saw her paddling alone around 3:00 p.m.; she never returned. She is described as a Caucasian female, brown curly hair, blue eyes, 5 feet 3 inches and about 130 pounds, wearing a white T-shirt over a one-piece swimsuit with a blue and green floral pattern.
Her canoe was later found washed ashore on the east side of Hall’s Lake. An extensive search by the Haliburton Highlands Ontario Provincial Police of the lake and surrounding area produced no sign of Laura. Officials have classified her as an endangered missing person and note that drowning is a possibility, but no body has been recovered and other explanations remain.
Does anyone who spent time at Hall’s Lake in 2005 remember seeing a lone canoe or any unusual activity that afternoon?
