I stumbled upon an interesting theory while reading about Patricia Flynn's disappearance. Some people in the community believe she may have experienced some sort of psychological break before her disappearance. The account from her neighbor mentioning she entered a 'catatonic state then suddenly came out of it' is quite perplexing. Could there have been underlying mental health issues at play? It's the 80s we're talking about, and mental health wasn't exactly a forefront topic back then. This could have led to something like a fugue state where Patricia lost track of her identity and surroundings. I wonder if anyone else has looked into records of unidentified women in mental health facilities or hospitals from that time period. It's a long shot, but you never know how she might have ended up there if she was disoriented and in a vulnerable state. Just a thought I had about another possibility in this tragic case.
