Essence Owens, 23, of Orlando, was reported missing on August 15, 2017, and was found dead four days later on August 19 in Groveland. A realtor discovered her body behind an abandoned house on Douglas Road; the property had been vacant for years. Authorities described the circumstances as suspicious but have not released a specific cause of death.

Investigators say the location’s remoteness suggests the person responsible was familiar with the area. No further details about the timeline between her disappearance and discovery have been provided.

If anyone was in the Douglas Road area in mid-August 2017 or has information about people who frequented that abandoned property, please contact the investigators with tips.
